Sophie Brussaux: Glitchy Milk Collection
Glitchy milk is a digital piece telling a story on self-love and breaking free from oppressive & restrictive systems, patterns, societies, individuals, ideas, you name it. We are born into it, learning everyday how to fit in, how to please and serve the Big Man.
A tarot card is chosen for each NFT, representing a step towards Enlightenment, and a part of the whole story. When you put together the 14 NFTs, you get the whole Fable.
On the pictorial symbols:
The stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars represents loss of individuality, fostered by societies that drown our unique characteristics and complexities into one, big, simple mould to become the mindless clone soldiers that are doing the bidding of the Republic, Empire...whatever the name of the regime in place is.
Female energy is generally associated with renewal, as we are canals for the souls. Still, the message applies to everybody, for we all have feminine and masculine energy, no matter how we self-identify, and no matter what reproductive organs we are born with.
She is naked because, well, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing to look at - and I believe the pleasure of the eyes to be a worthy cause! - she is going through a spiritual journey stripped of all unnecessary material distractions adorned only with Society's expectations of her (the helmet), which she adopts and aspires to achieve. At the beginning of her journey, she isn't aware that she is wearing the helmet, for it is all that she has ever known her whole life.
Each flower in the background represents women's empowerment. The roses represent love and passion, and the windflower embodies protection against evil. The Africa violet flower illustrates spiritual wisdom, humility and faithfulness. The daisies symbolize motherhood, childbirth and new chapters. The crocus flower symbolizes foresight, and last but not least, the cosmo flower symbolizes peace and tranquillity.
This piece is a reminder not to let controlling entities put down the fire of your soul by limiting your power and making you believe that you are worthless and lost among many equally worthless or more special than you.
Never forget that we are spiritual beings, having a physical experience; it's not the other way around.
What better way to start this journey than the Summer Equinox?
